Vestige is a series of black-and-white analogue photographs taken around the decommissioned Helena power plant on Hanasaari island during its demolition in the summer of 2024. The images capture debris, remnants, and traces of decay surrounding the site, offering a quiet study of disappearance and transformation. Using film allows me to connect with the tactile and temporal qualities of the photographic process. The grain, the contrast, the subtle gradations of light and shadow — all contribute to a sense of timelessness and quiet observation. Black-and-white film strips away the distraction of colour, offering a distilled view that emphasises textures, atmospheres, and the emotional resonance of place.
