BIO

Alexandra Stroganova (b. 1990) is a transdisciplinary artist whose practice explores entanglements between nature and culture, human and more-than-human, and past, present, and future. Informed by feminist philosophies such as new materialism and hydrofeminism, her work foregrounds material agency, ethics of care, and attentiveness, engaging matter, water, plants, fungi, and other entities as active collaborators.

Her research-based practice spans a wide range of media, combining experimental material processes with a commitment to sustainability. She currently works with analogue photography, alternative photographic processes such as cyanotype and anthotype, and ceramics.

Stroganova holds a Master of Arts degree in Nordic Visual Studies and Art Education, with a minor in Visual Culture, Curating, and Contemporary Art, from Aalto University. She is based in Helsinki, Finland. Her work has been presented in group and solo exhibitions in Finland, and she has participated in artist residencies abroad.
